To commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Tales of series, Namco Bandai will be releasing a brand new Tales game – Tales of Zestiria.
The game will be ‘released worldwide‘ on Playstation 3.
The focus of the game is on the Zest, or Zeal, of adventure, with the game attempting to reclaim or re-assess what makes a great video game adventure.
In true anniversary style the game draws on the series to date, particularly in its art. Character designs are being handled by all four series designers; Mutsumi Inomata, Kosuke Fujishima, Daigo Okumura, and Minoru Iwamoto.
Perhaps in looking to its past to build a better future Tales of Zestiria will be more interesting than Tales of Xillia, which did little to impress our Sean. I for one agree with Sean, the Tales series has been treading water for a long while now, so I would hope that a milestone game will try to really shake things up.
Of course Tales of Zestiria won’t be the next Tales game we receive, as Tales of Xillia 2 is due for translation before this completely new Tales instalment.
We’ll have more on Zestiria as it develops, but for now you can hit up the Japanese website and pretend you can understand it.
