A Sonic the Hedgehog 2 remake for iOS and Android will include the Hidden Palace Zone scrapped from the original Megadrive game.
Originally planned as a bonus stage to show off Sonic’s powers having found the game’s seven chaos emeralds, it was scrapped midway through the original development but was later discovered in a ROM file of the game.
The mobile version marks the first time the content has been made available in an official release.
Coming to Android as a full release and to iOS as a free update for the existing Sonic game, the content is a more faithful and robust remake of the original games from the team who created the Retro Engine that powered a Sonic CD remake released two years ago.
The game will be available from tomorrow.
