Scribblenauts Unmasked: A Crisis of Imagination is a Comic Book

by on December 5, 2013

Written by Josh Elder, Scribblenauts Unmasked: A Crisis of Imagination is the first issue in a new bi-weekly digital comic strip from DC Entertainment.

The comic is based, unsurprisingly, on the DC themed Scribblenauts spin-off, Scribblenauts Unmasked.

The synopsis reads;

The DC Universe and Scribblenauts world collide once more as the Phantom Stranger recruits Maxwell, Lily, and even a reformed Doppleganger to battle a mysterious new evil! But when the gang reaches Gotham City, what they find is even worse than what they imagined!”

Scribblenauts is perfectly either perfect for a narrative, or brilliantly imperfect depending on your position. Maxwell can create anything, afterall – from a simple velociraptor to a purple, gentlemanly, kind, generous velociraptor – so the scope for creative problem solving is huge.

This puts a lot of pressure on the writer, Josh Elder, as the comic will be as good as he can make it, and he’s got everything to use.

This said in an interview for Comic Book Resources Elder does say, “it’s the underlying theme — that imagination is the greatest superpower of all — that makes “Scribblenauts Unmasked” so meaningful to me. That’s a terrific message; one that I look forward to spreading far and wide.” These are promising words.
