After the sign-up opened almost six months ago, thousands of gaming fans have applied to be a part of the Project Spark Beta testing period. After waiting all of that time, gamers will finally get the chance to get some hands-on with the upcoming world-building and game-making title, as the public Beta testing stage begins today.
Major Nelson announced the news on his famous blog, and the title will begin testing exclusively on the Windows 8.1 platform. The Xbox One phase of the Beta will follow in early 2014 too, and the full game will also see an Xbox 360 release when it is finished. The Xbox One version will include a few exclusive features that will be missing from the PC and Xbox 360 versions however, including; Kinect-enabled performance capture, body animations, facial expressions and voice acting.
Project Spark looks like an incredibly interesting prospect, looking to bring LittleBigPlanet-style level creation and sharing to Xbox users, and the fact that it won’t be locked behind the requirement of an Xbox LIVE Gold membership is welcome news for all curious gamers.
