With all talk revolving around the PlayStation 4 and it’s shiny new launch title, Killzone Shadow Fall, it’s very easy to forget that it wasn’t that long ago that the PlayStation Vita had it’s own Killzone entry, in the form of Killzone Mercenary.
But developers Guerrilla Games haven’t forgotten about the game. In a recent PlayStation Blog post, Mark Green, Senior Producer at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced that a whole roadmap of patches and updates are expected to be rolled out over the coming months.
Update 3 will offer minimal functionality changes, but instead will reduce the size of Updates 1 & 2 by around 800MB. This should please those of us who are always running out of space on our Vita memory cards.
Due in January, Update 4 will offer some improvements to multiplayer, including amendments to matchmaking, auto-team balancing and improvements to network connectivity.
Update 5 will be the game’s biggest so far, bringing with it two free multiplayer maps. This update will also enable two new pieces of paid DLC – the offline Botzone and Guerilla Warfare modes.
Finally, Update 6 will be released in early 2014, which hopes to add further refinements and improvements, including Vita TV support (for those countries that are able to purchase and use this hardware).
Killzone Mercenary is available now for PlayStation Vita.
