It’s always good to see a game that tries to add a little style to the proceedings. Developed by Compulsion Games and published by Focus Home Interactive, Contract is a platform puzzler for PC, PlayStation 3 (via PSN), PlayStation 4 and Xbox 360 (via Xbox Live Arcade) that is set in a 1920’s noir-inspired world of jazz music, burlesque and imaginary friends.
Featuring Didi, an imaginative nine-year old girl, you play as Dawn, her imaginary friend. Manipulating light sources to make shadowy platforms, Dawn is on an adventure to reunite Didi’s parents.
It’s certainly a departure from the style of many similar games, so hopefully Contrast will deliver substance as well as style. If the screenshots and trailer below pique your interest, you can preorder the Collector’s Edition of the game on PC for Steam for a 25% discount, which also contains the game’s original 15-track jazz soundtrack, and a special 52-page Programme that features artwork from the game.
