The League of Legends World Championship Season 3 Finale will air on October 4th, live from its sold-out venue, the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The two best teams of season 3 will play to a packed venue of over 10,000 fans, with the whole competition streamed live online.
Season 2’s broadcast pulled in more than eight million viewers, so Riot Games are likely hoping that they can top that total this year.
The League of Legends crown has been contested over the past year, with Valve’s DOTA 2 having the biggest impact. Other franchises continue to dabble in the MOBA template, mind, with a Dead Island game coming soon that takes an undead approach to the growing genre.
Not that any of the games seem able to touch League of Legends style numbers, with, again, Dota 2 coming closest to League’s concurrent viewer records.
Are you going to be tuning in? Personally I’m not the biggest MOBA fan, but I do like a bit of eSports drama…
