The reveal of a new Killer Instinct game was a pleasant surprise from this year’s E3, and should be a decent Xbox One exclusive. The possibility of a fighting game with a freemium element will be an interesting one, with Microsoft announcing that the initial download will be free, providing the player with only Jago as a playable character.
At launch, Jago will be joined by five additional characters at launch, starting at the price of £3.99 each – A further two extra characters will be available for purchase soon after this launch period.
In addition, players can purchase extra fighters in bundle packs – The initial Combo Breaker pack will feature the eight characters mentioned above, for £16.99. But for the real KI deal, you’ll be wanting the aptly named “Ultra” Edition, offering the eight additional characters, along with all their colours, accessory packs, alternative costumes – Plus an emulated version of the original Killer Instinct arcade machine.
While we know that series regulars Jago, Sabrewulf, Chief Thunder and Glacius will be taking part in the latest of Ultratech’s tournaments, a brand new fighter has been unveiled (via CVG).
While lacking a name at the moment, this new female fighter is teased in the following 14 second video:
This web-wielding warrior certainly reminds us of a nasty cross between Mortal Kombat II’s Mileena and Baraka – While looking rather deadly; this new character does seem a little generic, don’t you think?
