QuakeCon 2013 Presentation Schedule Announced

Bethesda have announced the presentations for this year’s QuakeCon, all of which will be live streamed through Bethesda’s Twitch channel.

The offerings range from games, such as the first gameplay demo of The Elder Scrolls Online, to a presentation on the physics of light transport and rendering. No really, check out the full schedule:

THURSDAY, August 1st   

Welcome and Annual Keynote with John Carmack

FRIDAY, August 2nd

Principles of Lighting & Rendering with John Carmack

John will present a lecture-style presentation on the physics of light transport and rendering. He will discuss how light behaves in the real world, and the approximations and compromises that are involved in simulating the behavior with computers. Note: not for the technically faint at heart.

SATURDAY, August 3rd

From Sketchbook to the Big Screen

Hugo Martin | Art Director, Id Software

A concept artist for the Jaegers on Pacific Rim and now Art Director at id Software, Hugo will give a presentation of the work he created during the making of the film.

Ok, so we don’t get to have a peek at everything, but there’s still some great stuff there. And some stuff I won’t be able to understand. For those times, Bethesda will be streaming tournaments at Twitch.tv/QuakeCon.

Then again, I’d probably watch that and get confused by the speed of Quake again, just like every year…
