GTA V – Not All Protagonists Available From The Beginning

by on July 16, 2013

It seems like the wait for GTA V has been going on forever, especially with Rockstar’s excruciatingly slow drip-feeding of information about the game – It was only last week we got a proper look at actual gameplay, even though the game’s out in two months!

But, because everyone wants to know every little details about the next instalment of the massively popular series; here we are with another tidbit, courtesy of French website jeaxactu (via Videogamer).

In an interview with Rockstar North’s president, Leslie Benzies; he talks about the game’s use of three protagonists – A first for the series. He mentions that not all of these characters will be available from the get go, as to do so would “hurt the gameplay and story”.

While we don’t yet know which of these characters we’ll be able to play in what order, at least we know that GTA V will slowly introduce us to each one as the player progresses through the game’s many missions.

In addition, he also mentions that the whole of GTA V’s map will be explorable from the very start, unlike the previous games. Also, Lead Designer Imran Sarwar, hinted at how the three protagonists will interact:

“You can meet each character if you know where they are…For example, if Michael leaves after a mission and you play Trevor, you can go to meet him. You can also force things, if you wish, from one character to another and make them meet. They can then become friends and spend time together. We thought to make the characters appear on the map to be able to follow the day to day in the city, but we chose to focus our efforts on the system of interchangeable characters.”

If you didn’t already know, GTA V will be released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 17.
