With Grand Theft Auto’s recent trailer trio focusing on the believability of its central trio it’s unsurprising that Saints Row IV’s E3 trailer shows a game embracing everything that is unreal and bizarre.
From the president fighting aliens while his John Thomas waves free, to super human flight, to Mech suits, to two co-existing versions of one character, to Keith David, the trailer is an onslaught of the ridiculous and implausible.
And it looks absolutely brilliant.
It’s strange to think back to the relatively personality-free Saints Row that launched in the 360’s first year. The quintessential GTA clone, it now stands as a force of great sandbox mirth.
While some may consider that the franchise has gone a little too far into the realms of utter stupidity, I think it’s all the better for it. And ultimately it’s just a fascinating evolution, isn’t it?
