Microsoft Game Studios’ VP Phil Spencer recently spoke with IGN on the possibility of a Halo 2 remake.
The original Halo was re-released as Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary in 2011 to commemorate the ten year anniversary of the game. 2014 will be the ten year anniversary of Halo 2, so fans have been asking for similar treatment with Bungie’s second entry in the series. Phil Spencer said that it’s certainly possible:
“We have discussions about it. It’s more about the right time and making sure that we really would do the right thing for the franchise. The Halo Anniversary that we did was as much about the launch of the first Xbox as well. It was a culmination of many things coming together. It would probably run out of steam if we were trying to think about, ‘Okay, what’s 10 years old now?’.”
Halo: CEA was a brilliant walk down memory lane for so many people and fans are crying out for Halo 2 to hit store shelves, once again. It would make Microsoft a killing, so the chances are that we’ll see it, eventually.
