The long time rumoured Wolfenstein game was revealed earlier this week as Wolfenstein: The New Order and those who are fearful of any tacked on modes should refrain from writing a strongly worded letter to the developer.
Speaking with GameSpot, creative director Jens Matthies said that multiplayer will not feature in this long awaited comeback – which he feels is one of the most important series’ in history:
“It’s such a huge part of video game legacy. If there’s a video game museum, Wolfenstein is in the first room. It’s the start of the wave that shaped the world of gaming.”
Coming to PS3, Xbox 360, PC and the buzz phrase that’s becoming commonplace – “next-gen consoles”, Wolfenstein: The New Order is being developed by Swedish studio MachineGames. Many of its employees are made up of former staffers at The Darkness dev, Starbreeze Studios.
