It seems like such a natural fit, but it’s just a shame that it has taken this long. New Super Mario Bros. U will be patched to include Pro Controller support – right around the time of Super Luigi U‘s release date.
Announced on Miiverse (translation via NeoGAF), director Masataka Takemoto said that the update will also allow players to buy DLC, within the game’s menus.
Right now, this update has only been confirmed for Japan. I find it hard to believe that Nintendo wouldn’t bring this over to West, though. The Pro Controller was a terrific idea, however upon the Wii U’s launch, few games actually used it. Mario is a prime example of one title title that would avail of the 360-esque pad.
