After somewhat of a false start, Final Fantasy XIV is getting a new lease on life. Square Enix announced they will launch Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on August 27 for PC and PlayStation 3. While some may be waiting for Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy XV, XIV is a MMO that looks to build on success from the original online Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy XI.
There will be a collector’s edition for both systems that includes early access for those who pre-order. Square Enix did confirm that this release doesn’t require the original version of Final Fantasy XIV and those existing FFXIV players will be able to download this version for free. Monthly subscription fees will start at £7.69 / €10.99.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be released for the PlayStation 3 and PC on August 27.
