No-one likes Online Passes. They’re like that kid in your Primary school class that sat in the corner and smelt a bit. Sometimes they were just there, and there wasn’t anything you could do.
EA have finally agreed with the rest of the gaming world, in that Online Passes are not a good thing for the consumer, so they told VentureBeat that they’re no longer using them – Hooray!
In an email from John Rseburg, EA’s senior director of corporate communications, he explained that it’s due to customer feedback:
“Initially launched as an effort to package a full menu of online content and services, many players didn’t respond to the format…We’ve listened to the feedback and decided to do away with it moving forward.”
Great news for gamers everywhere, especially those fond of second-hand games. Now can someone convince Microsoft that second hand isn’t evil, please?
