Wii U Releases To Increase "Dramatically", Says Nintendo of America's BossThe Regginator lays down some stats and some big promises.

It’s been an odd few months for Nintendo. The 3DS is finally beginning to get some momentum in terms of sales and new releases, while the Wii U is having a slow first few months as a lack of  sales and exclusives is something of a concern.

But things could be taking a turn for the better soon; at least according to Nintendo of American’s president, Reggie Fils-Aime. In an interview with Gamesindustry.biz, Mr. Taker of Names has relayed news that Nintendo have a lot of surprises in store for E3:

“What I would say about Wii U – and what Mr. Iwata has said – is that the pace of launches has been slower than we hoped. But as we prepare for E3, the pace of launches for Wii U is going to dramatically increase.”

With the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s next console coming as soon as the end of this year, Nintendo certainly have to throw down the gauntlet to these new challengers.

The interview also goes into Nintendo’s foray into digital distribution on the Nintendo 3DS, with recent release Fire Emblem: Awakenings selling around 80,000 digital copies alone –  whopping third of the game’s 240,000 units sold in the US. He then goes on to reveal that of the 15 Nintendo-published games released both digital and boxed, 11% of sales has come from digital downloads.

The recent Nintendo Direct had plenty for Nintendo 3DS owners to be happy about – Here’s hoping that E3 will please Wii U owners both present and future.
