Last night London was a buzz with the first UK Zombie Wedding! Although a marketing event to launch the Dead Island Riptide game, this was an actual wedding with a real bride & groom and all their family and friends.
250 people were in attendance at Mayfair One, which looked like a ‘carribean island gone to hell’ – With a gothic back drop of an old church, Undead waiting staff and deep red lighting which would go into an orange glow at times definitely made this feel like hell.
There were also makeup artists on hand in the crypt of the venue, to turn guests into zombies. They did a fantastic job on the bride, groom and vicar.
The couple exchanged zombie theme vows in front of the zombie vicar. This was so entertaining and the groom (Rob) really got into character and made the whole congregation laugh.
After the ceremony, there was a dead island cocktail reception, during which the infamous Doritos Mariachi Mexteca band played some absolutely amazing tunes, who were also Zombified.
The first dance was Billy Idols White Wedding, which turned into MJs Thriller, where the bride & groom and bridesmaids did a choreographed dance to.
Jennifer Jones, Dead Island Riptide zombie bride, said:
We’re thrilled to have been chosen to be the official zombie bride and groom for Dead Island Riptide! We’re big fans of Dead Island and the horror genre, and a zombie wedding is a dream come true for us.
As well as hosting a zombie-style beach wedding, Dead Island Riptide’s publisher, Deep Silver, will also be sending the undead couple off on a Caribbean honeymoon.
Dead Island Riptide will be released this Friday, April 26 in Europe, but is available now in North America.
