UK Charts – Dead Island Riptide is the New Number One

It seems that the UK game buying public has spoken: Dead Island Riptide was the most popular game released last week, because as per usual, the best selling new game has taken the top spot in the UK charts.

Outselling Star Trek (4th place), Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen (3rd), and the long awaited (in some cases) re-release of cult classic Deadly Premonition: Director’s Cut (38th place), publisher Deep Silver will be pretty happy.

It’s worth noting that despite being the top selling game last week, Dead Island Riptide actually sold less than half of the copies that Dead Island did in its first week,

Elsewhere it’s business as usual, with Tomb Raider in 5th place, and BioShock Infinite in 6th place. Defiance stays inside the top 20 in 9th place, perhaps thanks to the continuation of the TV show (though I am shaking my fist at Trion for removing the story tie-in missions before I had a chance to play them all) – and Injustice: Gods Among Us spends its second week in the UK Charts in 2nd place. A strong TV ad-campaign (it had adverts broadcast during the football over the weekend!) has caused Fire Emblem: Awakening to stay inside the top 20, in 13th place, whilst other 3DS-exclusive, LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins enters in 8th place.
