It feels like quite a while ago that the fantastic Torchlight II was released to critical acclaim, and now after “must packaging, tweaking and testing”, Runic Games are ready to roll out the Torchlight editor.
What this means is that Torchlight 2 now fully supports Steam Workshop, and a new launcher will synchronize any mods you have subscribed to, and also lets you customise their activation state and loading priority. You can even filter online games by mod combination, and then with a simple, single button click, subscribe to those mods. The game will then restart, sync them, and start again.
If you’re the kind of player who likes to create mods, rather than play other people’s mods, you can publish directly to Steam Workshop when you compile it, making it available immediately, which is nice. If you’re new to modding, then Runic Games have put together a handy “how to” guide, for getting started – available here.
So, on top of all of this information, there’s some new content, too!
- The NetherRealm tileset – new NetherRealm dungeons can be found via portals throughout the world
- New Monsters
- New armor sets
- New weapons
- New pets – including the Headcrab!
- New endgame map content
- Some additional new dungeons in New Game plus modes in large overworld area
