After some rumours about shutting its doors, SuperBot Entertainment has confirmed that they’re still alive. In a statement to Edge, Director of Operations David Yang said that the PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale developer has downsized since they finished up with Sony back in February, but also said that SuperBot aren’t going anywhere, any time soon.
“We have substantially shrunk down our operations, but are still going strong while we work on a new IP.”
The split between Sony and the studio was an amicable one as both parties issued statements on the matter where it all seemed hunky-dory. PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale was by no means a bad game — it was actually quite fun! However, it was unable to find that rabid fighting game audience, or even the Smash Bros. fans.
SuperBot’s future is interesting. Sony basically hand-picked some names within the industry to form SuperBot, so the talent is certainly there. Whether they release a fighting game or go down a different avenue, all signs point to this new IP being a pretty decent ride.
