Dean “Rocket” Hall, creator of the hit Arma 2 mod and soon-to-be-standalone title DayZ has said a console version of the game is “almost certain”.
Speaking to The Escapist Hall said that console versions weren’t in development but that he could see them happening in the future.
“Certainly I think if we don’t, for want of a better word ‘fuck up,’ the PC release then I would say a console port is almost certain,” Hall said.
“I know a lot of people get really hot and bothered about it. Like, I’m not a console gamer, I’m a PC gamer, but I don’t think it necessarily has to hurt things.”
As for what console DayZ may end up on, Hall revealed that the PS4 was a likely candidate.
“It appears to be the kind of game that Sony are interested in, I think we just have to wait and see. We’ve talked and met with Sony, and they’re very – you know, they’re obviously interested.”
Hall made the comments at the Game Developer Conference, where he held talks on the development of the mod and standalone games.
There is yet to be a firm release date for the standalone DayZ but a development blog is still keeping people up-to-date with the process.
