Brütal Legend was originally released back in the October of 2009 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and it’s taken almost four years to bring the metal-inspired madness to the PC market. The developers would have had plenty of time to make the game look as impressive as possible if they hadn’t been entangled in legal battles for various reasons. Still, the game is finally out for the PC and Double Fine Productions have found the time to make a couple of changes, but is it enough to satiate the hunger of the average PC gamer; especially one that’s waited so long to get their hands on the game?
Not really, no. The game looks pretty much the same as it did on the consoles originally, which isn’t to say it looks bad, it just doesn’t seem to warrant the huge wait; in the visual sense at least. As you’ll see, all of the shadows are almost exactly the same, the lighting is a little bit different but the models are essentially identical too.
However, enough rambling from me, how about we show you the video that you’re all here to see? Here’s the video comparison between the PC version and the PlayStation 3 version of Brütal Legend.
The most obvious thing about the comparison between the PlayStation 3 and the PC versions of Brütal Legend is that both look practically identical. With a few exceptions to the rule there doesn’t seem any immediately obvious reasons to pick up the PC version of the game over the console versions that players have been able to pick up for almost four years. Is it good that more people can finally get to play a hugely original, and mostly fun, game? Of course it is. Is the PC version a massive graphical improvement over a game that’s now almost four years old? Not at all. The game plays better with a controller anyway, so go out, buy a cheap console version of the game and don’t worry about any of the frame-rate drops and minor annoyances; you’ll have to buy the DLC though.
What do you think about the comparison? Do you think that Brütal Legend was long overdue a PC release or should it have stayed as a console-only title? Let us know in the comments below and be sure to check back regularly for more videos from GodisaGeek.com.
Brütal Legend is available now for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and, finally, Windows PC.
