Superfrog HD will release ‘later this year’ in celebration of the character’s 20th anniversary.
The game will reportedly feature ‘all new graphics‘. Well, you’d hope so after twenty years.
Speaking on the PS Blog Debbie Bestwick, Team17’s Managing Director, says, “We’re extremely excited about bringing Superfrog HD to PS3 and PS Vita; it’s the most requested game that our fans are always requesting to see make a return.”
The original game, Superfrog, was an Amiga title released in 1993 that garnered praise for its technical proficiency and colourful visuals, with many critics of the time naming it the Amiga’s best platformer.
A testament to Superfrog’s quality is that the one game was enough to spawn fan sites like Superfrog: Thr Tribute.
There are but two things that are yet to be confirmed, and need to be. First, will Superfrog still gain his powers by slugging down a bottle of Lucozade. And two, will Allister Brimble be returning to compose the soundtrack? Allister Brimble best be returning to compose the soundtrack…
You’ll have to imagine what those ‘all new graphics’ will look like, but here’s some footage of the original game to give you an idea of what Superfrog is about.
Superfrog HD will be released in 2013 for Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita.
