Between January 1 and December 31 of last year, Electronic Arts was THE best video games publisher. At least that’s according to Metacritic, as the aggregate scoring website has shown in a recently released list.
Metacritic compiled two lists; one featuring major publishers who released 15 or more games in 2012, and one with publishers that released 7-14 titles, last year. You can check out said lists, below. The findings are also rather interesting.
Major Publishers – Best of 2012
1. EA (75.2) 2. Microsoft (73.0) 3. Sony (72.3) 4. Nintendo (71.2) 5. Capcom (70.4) 6. Warner Bros. (70.6) 7. Ubisoft (68.2) 8. Konami (69) 9. SEGA (69.9) 10. Activision Blizzard (64.4) 11. Namco Bandai (62.5)
Straight off the bat, to clarify, the publisher that has painted in a bad light in recent times – EA – swoops in and comes in first place above the big three. A major help in that was Mass Effect 3 – another “bad guy” last year with all of the controversy surrounding that ending.
It’s definitely worth your time to head on over to Metacritic and have gander at their stats and figures with regard video game publishers in the year that was 2012.
How's things? I'm the video guy and would love if you'd watch the things I do like Debatable and For Your Amusement. I spend the majority of my days explaining why The Wire is the greatest TV show ever and clamouring for a Pop-Punk revival(c. 1994) whilst singing in my best Axl Rose-esque voice. Do not say professional wrestling is “fake” around me or, he’ll bore you with, what I like to call, “the risks they take”. Henrik Larsson is my hero.
