Koch Media, who publish video games under the Deep Silver name, is delving deeper into the medium as they’ve just announced their investment in free-to-play developer and publisher; Infernum Productions AG.
The Berlin-based Infernum was set up in 2011 and has carved out its own niche in the saturated free-to-play market. Their first game, Brick-Force, has pulled in more than 1.5 million players and the studio are continuing work on their MMO Dragon’s Prophet, along with in-house title; Project: Theralon. CEO at Koch Media Klemens Kundratitz, was delighted with the significant minority stake in Infernum;
“We see great opportunities for growth in the area of free-to-play online gaming. Infernum is in an excellent position, having high-quality products and one of the most experienced teams. Through our strategic investment, we want to support Infernum on the way to becoming a leading provider in the free-to-play market, and to participate in the enormous business potential.”
“We are very happy to have Koch Media at our side now, a partner who is both experienced and visionary, and who will open up brand new opportunities for us with its distribution know-how, its international positioning, and its powerful brands. This cooperation will enable us to take on an even more important role in our rapidly growing market.”
Free-to-Play is still a relatively new market. Recently, its gaining a lot of traction, but it’s all about seeing potential and Koch Media certainly see that in Infernum. It’s still a new phenomena to the average gamer and making the move now, like so many other publishers, is important.
