The Grand Theft Auto V developer is currently looking for someone to “develop cutting-edge architectures and high performance systems for current and next-gen platforms”, as a job listing on their site outlines.
Rockstar North is in the market for an experienced programmer, as Rockstar’s RAGE Technology Group is looking for a physics programmer to work on their RAGE (Rockstar Advanced Game Engine) engine, which has been utilised in many of the studio’s recent titles – MaxPayne 3, Red Dead Redemption and the upcoming GTA V. The listing for a physics programmer also indicates that next-gen is firmly in mind.
The last job listings, which we saw thanks to CVG, will certainly get the minds of many Rockstar fans, ticking. Next-gen is most likely right around the corner – in the form of Durango/720 or Orbis/PS4, I should add – and it’s the worst kept secret. LinkedIn profiles and many other job listings like these ones, all indicate that we’re close, but it remains to be seen whether we’ll see announcements from either Sony or Microsoft, next year.
In all likelihood, we will. Red Dead on next-gen would probably be outrageously gorgeous.
