The trailer for “new IP” The Phantom Pain, has created a frenzy behind a potential Metal Gear Solid 5 announcement. By now I’m sure you’ve seen the countless break down articles and GAF threads, but if you’re yet to watch the trailer, you can see it in full, below.
Sure, there are plenty of similarities such as a Big Boss/Snake looking character, the fact that the apparent developer’s (Moby Dick Studios) CEO is named Joakim Mogren – Joakim being an anagram of “Kojima” and his surname containing the word “ogre”, which would allude to “Project Ogre”, which is a fabled KojiPro title that uses the FOX engine. I could go on and on and on. The coincidences are certainly there.
Gematsu has reported that next week’s issue of Famitsu will contain “something surprising for Metal Gear Solid fans”. We may receive some clarity when that hits news stands, but ’till then, I’m really enjoying the speculation. Are The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Solid 5 the same game? Where does Ground Zeroes fit into all of this?
Whatever the case may be, the fans are getting worked, beautifully.
How's things? I'm the video guy and would love if you'd watch the things I do like Debatable and For Your Amusement. I spend the majority of my days explaining why The Wire is the greatest TV show ever and clamouring for a Pop-Punk revival(c. 1994) whilst singing in my best Axl Rose-esque voice. Do not say professional wrestling is “fake” around me or, he’ll bore you with, what I like to call, “the risks they take”. Henrik Larsson is my hero.
