2013 looks set to be a stellar year for videogames with some extraordinary releases heading our way right off the bat (DmC: Devil May Cry hits shelves in January), and one of the most anticipated titles of the first quarter is Aliens: Colonial Marines, Gearbox Software’s nerve-shredding homage to James Cameron’s sci-fi masterpiece.
While we’ve seen several trailers showing the new multiplayer modes and various gameplay elements, we still know relatively little about the story – which is ironic as the apparent destruction of the game’s entire setting at the climax of the movie throws up all sorts of questions to which we, as conscientious gamers (and downright pedants) want answers.
Well, this new story trailer doesn’t exactly smother us with clarity, but it does reveal some minor story elements and beg a few new questions: Who is the guy on his knees with the bag over his head? Why don’t the marines repair more light fixtures when they arrive? Why does Hicks sound so chipper for someone who recently got a few pints of organically-produced concentrated acid splashed all over his chest?
Anyway, our eagerness for this FPS remains as high as ever after watching. Let us know just how excited (or not) you are for Aliens: Colonial Marines in the comments box. Enjoy.
Aliens: Colonial Marines will be released in Europe on Xbox 360, Windows PC, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii U on February 12.
