Players will be able to choose from four playable characters, the Sifari Warrior, the Ancarian Ranger, the Khukuri Shaman (standard fighter, mage, thief set-up, then), and a fourth character yet to be revealed (our money is one of the Seraphim, Sacred’s female warrior-angels). Not only will each character have their own gear and skill set, but they’ll be able to work together to combine their powers and defeat their opponents.
Though it doesn’t sound like anything terribly original, Sacred Citadel does seem like fun. The three-player co-op is especially cool, particularly when you take into account that you can steal the mounts of your enemies and use their unique abilities, too. The action has shades of coin-op classic Golden Axe, but modernised to suit our HD tastes. Though little is known of the story, Sacred Citadel is a prequel to Keen Games’ Sacred 3, due for release in 2013.
Sacred Citadel will be released in 2013 on PlayStation 3 (via PlayStation Network), Windows PC (via Steam) and Xbox 360 (via Xbox LIVE Arcade).
