You may, or may not be familiar with Amnesia Fortnight. For those who don’t know what it is; Amnesia Fortnight is a two week period where Double Fine stop what they’re working on and the studio is split up into small groups, with each group coming up with a new idea for a game. In recent years, they’ve had quite the success with this method as Costume Quest, Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster, Iron Brigade and Stacking were all in this annual gamejam.
Double Fine has teamed up with Humble Bundle and have now given the public the power. There are loads of prototype ideas already and you can watch them at the same place you can contribute. Over on Humble Bundle’s page for Amnesia Fortnight – like any other Humble Bundle – you contribute some dosh and distribute it amongst the developer (Double Fine, in this case), the Child’s Play charity and Humble Bundle themselves, however you so wish.
As well as contributing, you vote on the idea that appeals to you and Double Fine will create prototypes of the top four vote-getters. If you cough up to this cause, you’ll be able to download the finished prototypes, as well as watch live streams of the development process. Not only that, but you’ll also get the prototype versions of Costume Quest and Happy Song – which went on to become Once Upon a Monster.
Tim will explain more, below.
