Ssh! Stealth Bastard Deluxe is Slinking Onto Steam
And you thought Dishonored was tough… Curve Studios’ fast-paced action-platformer Stealth Bastard has been described as “Metal Gear Solid meets Super Meat Boy”, and has been downloaded by 125,000 gamers since its release last year.
Based around the simple premise of escaping a facility guarded by robot drones and lethal, one-shot-and-kersplat traps, Stealth Bastard Deluxe features 80 levels spread across 8 worlds and will test your brain, your reflexes and, more often than not, your patience.
Additions to the Deluxe edition include a full backstory for the main character (omitted from the original indie release), new equipment and a host of new challenges to push you to the limit. But the biggest bonus is the all-new level editor, which allows you to create your own bastard-hard levels and share them with the community, earning you bragging rights thanks to a new online leaderboard.
Jonathan Biddle, the Design Director at Curve Studios, says: “We were amazed at the success of the original Stealth Bastard. What was originally just an exercise in trimming the fat off existing stealth mechanics has grown into a phenomenal cult hit. The free version of Stealth Bastard was only ever a sketch; an incomplete vision of what we really wanted to do. With the new release on Steam, we’ve been given the opportunity to build on the original’s foundations and broaden the gameplay experience in every area.”
The original game is still available (and completely free) on StealthBastard.com, but will no longer be updated.
Stealth Bastard Deluxe is developed and published by Curve Studios and will be available to download via Steam in November.
