Hawken to Enter Closed BetaMeteor Entertainment and Adhesive Games have announced that highly-anticipated first-person Mech shooter, Hawken, will enter closed beta testing on October 26th – though it will initially only run until the 29th.

Free-to-play games are becoming more and more prominent, and Hawken looks set to change the way people think about free-to-play: for a start, it looks great and has a great deal of depth you don’t often see in F2P titles. It has also been well-recieved so far, winning over 20 awards since June of this year and garnering a lot of positive press. But it’s essential that the developers iron out the kinks before launch.

Mark Long, CEO of Meteor Entertainment, explains the importance of beta testing a game like Hawken: “The Alpha 2 testing was great. We broke a lot of things and that’s good. The more that we find wrong now, the smoother open beta will go.”

Creative Director and Co-Founder of Adhesive Games, Khang Le, is just happy to finally be inviting the public to play Hawken: “We’re super-excited about opening the gate and having a larger fan base playing Hawken for the very first time! I can’t wait to see how the general audience receives the game and all the crazy tactics they come up with to dominate the Hawken battlefield.”

And that open beta is scheduled to begin on December 12th, where a large number of eager players will be able to get stuck into the action and help Adhesive Games add the last few layers of spit and polish to their title. For a chance to take part in the closed beta, follow this link.

Hawken is scheduled for release in 2013, and will enter open beta on 12/12/12.
