Prepare to die - again. Dark Souls Artorias of the Abyss DLC coming October 24thFans of epic adventure, fantasy horror and relentless punishment, rejoice! Namco Bandai and From Software have announced that the first downloadable content pack for their award-winning RPG Dark Souls is on its way to consoles, having already made PC gamers whimper in the Prepare to Die Edition released a little while ago.

Set in the huge and seamless realm of Lordran, Dark Souls merges punishing difficulty with deep, intense combat and open-world exploration and has established itself as one of the most compelling games of 2011. Now developers From Software are ready to release Artorias of the Abyss, a downloadable expansion that will give those gamers who are brave enough the opportunity to return to Lordran and continue their epic quest against the darkness.

The additional single player content includes a vast new area to explore as players face off against the evil seeping from the shadow-draped forests of Oolacile. The DLC will also feature new weapons and armour, new enemies and new bosses to test your mettle – but the most interesting thing is the change to the online element.

For the first time From Software are offering an online matchmaking system, so you can show off your hard-as-nails hero among friends – or challenge them to a battle to the death in a brand new PvP mode. Whatever your preferred play style, one thing is certain: only the brave need apply.

Dark Souls: Artorias of the Abyss will be available to download from Xbox Live and PSN on October 24th.
