Tottenham Hotspur To Partner With EA Sports
The biggest news from Tottenham Hotspur this Summer is not the fact that Andre Villas Boas is now Spurs’ head honcho, it is their partnership with EA. Spurs become the eighth Premier League club to sign deals with Electronic Arts including; Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Everton, Fulham, Newcastle, and Manchester City. Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy had this to say about the the announcement:
“Over the course of the past few years we’ve seen the international profile of the Club rise significantly, especially across key markets in Asia and North America. We are delighted to have the opportunity to partner with EA Sports, one of the world’s leading entertainment brands, and provide them with the opportunity to reach our global fan base.”
The deal – which will see EA Sports as the official video game partner of the club – will last for three years. In layman’s terms, what this means is that EA Sports will get certain exclusive videos from White Hart Lane during training, there will be a kiosk at certain home games for fans to play EA Sports titles, there will be a special Spurs FIFA 13 cover – which you’ll be able to download from the Tottenham Hotspur site before the game is released, things like that.
Tottenham are also set for a pre-season tour of the States soon. Whilst there, EA Sports will be conducting 3D head scans of Tottenham Hotspur players. This will ensure that the FIFA development team can capture authentic 3D player models for future iterations of the FIFA series.
NB: Luka Modric may not have been part of this deal.
