Konami today announced that the four year wait for an update to MGS4 that would add trophy support is finally coming to an end.
Yes that’s right Snake fans, Trophies are finally coming to MGS4, giving all of us the perfect excuse to dust off our copy and have another Trophy earning play through. The idea of a Trophy patch for MGS4 was first touted by Kojima Productions’ Sean Eyestone in August 2009, and became somewhat of a running joke amongst the Metal Gear community. Now, four years after release and three years after the ‘announcement’, the update is due to land in August, free to all MGS4 owners.
A statement from Konami reads;
“As part of the continuing celebrations of the METAL GEAR series’ 25th anniversary, Kojima Productions has revisited its best-selling title to add 34 new Trophies to the game. METAL GEAR SOLID 4: Guns of the Patriots concludes the tale of series hero’ Solid Snake, as the ageing stealth operative is drawn into a final mission where a genetically-raised army is amassing familiar weapons under the leadership of an old enemy.”
Good news all round then. What do you think of the news of the impending Trophy update? Will it have you scrambling for your copy of MGS4? Or do Trophies do nothing for you? Let us know in the comments section, below.
