SEGA Evolve Kart Racing with New Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
SEGA have come out to announce their new Racing game sequel, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. The follow-up to Sonic & All-Stars Racing, Transformed will see their vehicles not only whizzing around tracks in lnad-based vehicles, but also soaring through the skies and skimming across the water as the cars transform into motor boats and planes – for example. As shown in the trailer below, the karts will change, Transformer-style as you transition between different areas of the course.
The game will be coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS, as well as PC via Digital Download – and is estimated to hit stores in late 2012. The cast of drivers will include many well-known SEGA characters, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Dr Eggman, Beat from Jet Set Radio and AiAi from the Super Monkey Ball series, who all featured in the first title. But there will also be a few new racers on the block, such as Gilius Thunderhead of Golden Axe and Vyse from Dreamcast favourite – Skies of Arcadia. Tracks are also inspired by classic games, and a new Panzer Dragoon course is bound to become a fan-favourite as you soar through the skies.
“Given the fantastic feedback we received from critics and consumers alike for the first game we really wanted to push the boundaries on our follow up game, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed… transforming vehicles allow us to do this – as well as drifting your car around the corners of a track, you get to fly your plane and pilot your boat against others all within one race. Add to this a grid full of star characters, retro IP, fun, fast race modes and cool tracks and racing fans Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed also sees the popular All-Star moves return with a brand new mechanic allowing your All-Star bar to power up faster if you race daringly and stylishly. An all new fair weapon system ensures that weapons fired at your vehicle can either be blocked or evaded once you have gained the skills to do so, making each race a unique and exhilarating experience whether it’s on water, in the air or on land.”
