GodisaGeek’s E3 2012 Predictions – Sony
It’s time for our look at Sony’s press conference, in the next batch of our E3 2012 predictions!
This week, a few GodisaGeek staff members have been predicting what surprises we can expect from this year’s round of E3 press conferences. To recap:
Back in early April, I asked our talented team of writers to come up with some predictions for four different press conference categories (Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo & Third-Parties). Within these conferences, I asked for three different types of prediction:
- Likely – Things that we believe will definitely happen during the conferences.
- Maybe – Things that could happen, but aren’t certain.
- Unlikely – Flights of fancy that will probably not happen (but it would be nice if they did)
All staff were given a date of Monday, May 14th to give me their predictions, and were asked to keep them secret. Over the next days, I’ll be posting up our predictions, and after E3 I’ll be taking a look to see who was right. Sony is up next!
Sony are having a much better time of things than they did last year. After the whole PSN hacking debacle, Sony eventually treated the situation incredibly well at last year’s E3 conference. With those dark times well behind them, Sony will be looking to impress everyone with new PlayStation 3 and Vita software.
Calvin: A definite emphasise on PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3.
Adam: PlayStation Vita titles galore, more Uncharted on PlayStation Vita and release info for LittleBigPlanet Vita. More info on The Last of Us.
Martin: A look at The Last of Us via some gameplay or a trailer, plus a look at God of War: Ascension.
Robin: Lots of focus on the PlayStation Vita, with a look at tonnes of Vita games.
Joe: A look at some new PlayStation Vita titles and some new features.
Colm: Sony will reveal the full list of characters for PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale.
Lee: A gameplay demo of The Last of Us, plus some new PlayStation Vita titles. I think Quantic Dream are due a return to E3 as well – An expansion of the Kara tech demo we saw at GDC? Speaking of returns, I think fictional spokeperson, Kevin Butler needs to come back.
Calvin: A brief statement regarding the PlayStation 4, plus a possible SEN/PSN overhaul.
Adam: A PlayStation 4 announcement, and potentially an inFAMOUS 3 reveal. More Move games too maybe?
Martin: An announcement of the PlayStation 4
Robin: An announcement regarding the PlayStation 4.
Joe: An announcement regarding the PlayStation 4.
Colm: An announcement regarding the PlayStation 4.
Lee: An announcement….Actually no, I think there is a possibility of some new PlayStation 3/PlayStation Vita software updates, introducing some new features.
Calvin: A list of specifications for the PlayStation 4, plus rough release date announcements.
Adam: A Kinect-style motion controller for the PlayStation 4.
Martin: A Kinect-style motion controller for the PlayStation 4.
Robin: Sony to reveal a bunch of high-quality PlayStation Move titles.
Joe: An updated/replacement PlayStation Move, plus added Party Chat features for the PlayStation 3/Vita.
Colm: The Last of Us will have another trailer and will still be coming out this year. Listed as unlikely because I think this baby won’t see the list of day until 2013.
Lee: Sony will dazzle us with some new PlayStation Move titles!
Three of our prediction groups now done – Tomorrow, we finish our predictions with Nintendo’s conference – See you then, don’t forget to add your own predictions below!
