Diablo III Biggest Launch in PC History
Despite a less than perfect start, Diablo III sold an incredible 3.5 million units with 24 hours of release. Add the 1.2 million players who received the game for free via the World of War Craft Annual Pass, and you’ve got the biggest PC game launch in history.
Blizzard Entertainment has announced an incredible 4.7 million people picked up the long awaited Diablo III on launch day, this figure has already grown to 6.3 million after just 7 days. The game has also taken Korean Internet game rooms by storm, taking a 39% share, another new record.
Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard had this to say regard today’s figures:
We’re definitely thrilled that so many people around the world were excited to pick up their copy of Diablo III and jump in the moment it went live. We also regret that our preparations were not enough to ensure everyone had a seamless experience when they did so. I want to reaffirm our commitment to make sure the millions of Diablo III players out there have a great experience with the game moving forward, and I also want to thank them for their ongoing support. We’re looking forward to welcoming more players into Sanctuary in the days ahead.
So a great launch for Diablo III on the numbers side, but how has your experience been, have you had any of the issues that are being so widely reported?
