When I was a kid, Battleship meant sitting with a friend or family member either side of a primitive plastic board game, cunningly moving your ships around in a display of cheating each time your foe called out the correct square. The little red and white pegs used to get everywhere.

These days, Battleship is all about alien invasions, FPS, and even a goddam live action movie starring Bajan warbler Rihanna. What is the world coming to?

Never mind though, as here we are with some exclusive screenshots and a trailer for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the forthcoming game, which puts you in the shoes of elite Navy dude Cole Mathis as he attempts to thwart a bunch of horrible alien scum on both land and sea in what is being described as “the ultimate life or death battle to save humankind”. Crikey.

Battleship is Released On Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on 20th April 2012.
