UK Charts – Skyrim Ventures to the Top of the Charts for the First Time

In somewhat of a surprise, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been knocked off the top of the UK all-formats Video Game chart. Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has bounced back from fifth position to climb all the way up to number one for the very first time.

The game title has seen massive price cuts across the board from many different retailers, and that fact has meant that the game has been able to get to the top of the charts after already having been on sale for five full weeks. It was kept off the top spot at launch by Modern Warfare 3, as they both launched in the same release window. But four weeks in a row was all that COd could muster, as a challenger has finally knocked it down a notch.

Party games are also big successes in the chart this week, as four dancing games have made it into the top twenty – in preparation for Christmas parties no doubt. Mario & Sonic at the London Olympic Games could also be placed in that same category, for families looking for a title to all play together. So all of this means that the chart has taken on a very holiday-inspired look. The race for Christmas number one is still very much alive though.
