Talk of next generation consoles has recently turned up to 11 lately and the rumours keep on coming in as it has been reported that Kinect 2 will be bundled with future Xboxes. Eurogamer have reported, via a source, that the next Kinect will be able to lip read. Apparently, the peripheral will be able to distinguish when the player is angry and also will be able to read which way the user is facing. Kinect 2 will be able to see the player’s facial mannerisms and hear the pitch at which the user shouts at their consoles.
The first incarnation of the camera has always been hampered by the fact that it has to pass information to the console via USB. Kinect 2 won’t be using that path. The picture will be much more up-resed with a far crisper output. The source said this about the Kinect 2;
“It can be cabled straight through on any number of technologies that just take phenomenally high res data straight to the main processor and straight to the main RAM and ask, what do you want to do with it?”
This info comes off the back of rumours that Microsoft are developing 2 versions of the Next-box. The cheaper version seems to be a set-top box style console that will focus on Kinect family fun…and all that. With the other version being the more packed and true successor to the 360.
With all these rumours of the 720 coming in 2012/13 and now with these Kinect 2 rumours, it’d be nice to see something a bit more concrete, however that probably won’t be happening for a bit. I’m sure all of the “lazies” will be delighted to hear about these Kinect 2 rumours. It sounds like Microsoft wants their fans to shed a few pounds.

How's things? I'm the video guy and would love if you'd watch the things I do like Debatable and For Your Amusement. I spend the majority of my days explaining why The Wire is the greatest TV show ever and clamouring for a Pop-Punk revival(c. 1994) whilst singing in my best Axl Rose-esque voice. Do not say professional wrestling is “fake” around me or, he’ll bore you with, what I like to call, “the risks they take”. Henrik Larsson is my hero.
