Disney Universe hears the Call of the Wild as The Lion King roars into action
Disney Universe, the upcoming multiplayer experience from Disney Interactive Studios where players jump into a suit of their choosing, that represents a particular Disney character. It is set to feature a whole variety of different characters and lands – inspired by famous films from the company. Already we have seen characters from the Tron universe, Monsters Inc. and Wall-E, as well as a set of suits based on the original Mickey and Friends characters. This week, the development team have released a new trailer, as well as a bunch of new images, that show off the Lion King levels and suits that will be available in-game.
Adam Sussman, senior vice president of publishing at Disney Interactive Media Group says that; “The Lion King was an animated masterpiece, and certainly one of Disney’s most treasured films… Fans of all ages will surely enjoy the exploration and adventures that await them in this Disney Universe environment, where they’ll have a chance to revisit some of their favourite scenes and suit up as characters from the movie.”
In this update, we learn that players will be able to dress their in-game character as Simba – the young would-be King, Timon & Pumbaa – his Meerkat and Warthog friends, Scar – his evil Uncle or Rafiki – the Witch Doctor. They will then be able to work their way across levels based upon famous scenes and locations from the film itself, including the Pride Lands and the Elephant Graveyard. As well as this, new weapons will be included in the levels, such as seed and water bomb projectiles, which will help players pass through Lava-filled dangers in order to reach the final boss battle against a giant version of Scar.
In the trailer, we see a new selection of multiplayer minigames, that will see gamers going head-to-head against one another, as well as the co-opertaive play that features throughout most of the title. The game looks like it will be full of crazy multiplayer action, and it will be interesting to see how it all fits together.
