Gears of War 3 Multiplayer To Cater To Casual Players
The Gears of War franchise has one of the most popular multiplayer modes in gaming. For the newcomer, it can be a pretty difficult thing to get to grips with. Not anymore though, as Gears of War 3’s multiplayer will be easier to play for the newcomers out there as Epic Games has added a ‘casual’ multiplayer mode.
Gears 3 Exective Producer Rod Fergusson and Design Director Cliff Bleszinski broke the news during a panel at Comic-Con, as reported by USA Today.“[Gears] Three is the perfect one to get into because it’s the easiest to play.” Said Fergusson. Bleszinski described the mode as “Like reverse VIP” when speaking on the panel.
The new ‘casual’ multiplayer mode will have aim assist, and players who took part in the Gears 3 beta will not have access to the mode. The same applies to anyone that has had previous Gears of War Multiplayer experience, hence the reverse of VIP.
This news comes as little surprise, and is something that is sure to make the game more accessible to those who aren’t hardcore shooter fans. We wouldn’t be shocked to see this idea taken up by other franchises, too. Who likes a poor K/D ratio, eh?
While we are on the subject of Gears of War, why don’t you check out our competition to win a Gears of War inspired “Lancer Assault Rifle” tee? The shirts are awesome, so if you live in the UK, you would be a fool not to enter.
What do you think of the casual multiplayer mode coming in Gears of War 3? Should Epic be looking after the players it already has a bit more, or do you welcome the mode? Let us know in the comments.
Gears of War 3 releases September 20, exclusively for Xbox 360.
