PlayStation Store Coming Back Online On May 24?

by on May 19, 2011

Sony is planning to bring the PlayStation Store back online on Tuesday, May 24, according to a memo meant for Sony’s game developer and publishing partners. The memo — which was handed to Gamasutra — lays out a schedule for the store to catch up on the content updates that were missed during PlayStation Network’s downtime.

Updates are set to hit first on May 24, and another on May 27. Further PlayStation Store updates are set to land on May 31 and June 3, which should see Sony catch up enough to be able to resume a normal service.

In the memo, PSN content manager Jack Osorno wrote:

“We thank you for your patience as we work to resume service of the PlayStation Store”

“If there are concerns, we are willing to consider adjusting the release date of your content on this schedule. Adjustments will be made on a case by case basis.”

After the restoration of online gaming, Sony will be looking to begin its recovery from the downtime by bringing full restoration to the PlayStation Network, which will also allow Sony to follow through with the welcome back package that it promised to users. When the PlayStation Store does make its return, gamers are sure to have a steady flow of new content for the next few weeks, which should go some way to helping fans, developers and Sony finally turn a page on what has been a long and painful saga.
