Operation Flashpoint: Red River – Developer Diary #3

by on April 18, 2011

Today Codemasters released the latest developer diary video for Operation Flashpoint: Red River, the all-new chapter in the multi-million selling tactical shooter series. Focusing on the game’s four player co-operative campaign and Fireteam Engagements.

The video includes gameplay footage taken from the multiplayer modes in the game and features key development team talent explaining how Operation Flashpoint: Red River has been completely designed around drop-in, drop-out co-operative play. Players come together in four key specialist roles to form a US Marine Fireteam – Rifleman, Automatic Rifleman, Scout and Grenadier. These complimentary roles allow players to become a highly effective fighting unit as they play through the game’s extensive campaign or rise up the leaderboards in the game’s four standalone Fireteam Engagement modes.

“The online experience in Red River is core to our DNA and we’ve improved it by focusing on 4 player co-op. You can join in any time with your buddies and basically kick some ass,” said Adam Parsons, Executive Producer.

“For me it’s very much the thinking man’s shooter. It’s all about the decisions you make,” said Creative Director Sion Lenton. “We don’t lead you by the hand through the levels. It’s up to the player to decide how they’re going to get the best out of that level. It’s all about co-op, it’s all about team play, it’s all about communication and giving the players the tools and the options they need to have an awful lot of fun.”
