Yakuza 4 Getting Special Edition With Bonus Features

by on February 4, 2011

SEGA Europe has revealed the news that not only will Japanese gangster-em-up Yakuza 4 be released on the 18th March, but it will be receiving the full Steelbook Special Edition treatment. The fourth game in the saga of Kazuma Kiryu will see the ontroudction of three new playable characters and the return of Hostess Clubs to the Western version of the game – that was unceremoniously cut from Yakuza 3 – much to the outrage of fans of the series.

The Special Edition of the game will also add a couple of exclusive play modes. This consists of a boss rush Survival Mode, where players can either battle in an “underground fighting arena” against the bosses from the main games, but also adds the option to “race the bosses in underground car parks”. On foot. Which sounds typically crazy for this quirky series. There will also be alternate costumes for the four playable characters, and Kazuma’s adopted daughter Haruka.

Yakuza 4 will be available for PlayStation 3 on 18th March. The Steelbook Special Edition will retail at £39.99 in the UK. Before the full release date, PlayStation Plus members will have early access to a demo on 16th February, with regular PlayStation Network members gaining access to the demo on 23rd February.
