Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Date Confirmed and New Characters Revealed
Today Capcom has revealed a raft of new details concerning the highly anticipated fighting title Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds. Perhaps the biggest piece of news is the confirmed release date for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions – February 18th 2011. As that is a friday, we assume that will be the European release date, the North American date will most likely be the previous tuesday.
Also, on top of the announcement earlier in the week that She-Hulk and Zero from the Mega Man series will be joining the cast of playable fighters, it has now been unveiled that two extra characters will be included as part of the special edition package – or as DLC for those of us buying the regular edition. There will be one character representing Capcom and one from Marvel – as has been the case with all of the character announcements thus far. From the Capcom team will be Jill Valentine, decked out in her Resident Evil 5 attire, and on the Marvel team – making his second appearance after also being in Marvel Vs Capcom 2 – will be the one-eyed demon, Shuma-Gorath. Capcom added that European fans could also look forward to other merchandise being given away by participating retailers as pre-order incentives, but didn’t provide solid details of what these may be.
Finally, the box art for both versions of the title has been shown off, including artwork by Marvel comics artist Adi Granov – perhaps most famous for designing the movie version of the Iron Man suit. See below for some shots of the box art and the newly-announced characters.
