Ivy the Kiwi? Breaking out of her shell next week!

Rising Star Games is working with Sonic the Hedgehog programmer and general SEGA legend Yuji Naka to publish Ivy The Kiwi? The game will be released next week and has been developed by Prope, the company Naka founded when he left SEGA, who are most famous for innovative Wii game Let’s Tap!

The game will see the player guiding the hapless Ivy through storybook-style worlds, as she searches for her mother. Making use of the touch-screen and motion controls of the Nintendo DS and Wii respectively, players place vines throughout the stages, and interact with them in order to help Ivy follow the trail of feathers left behind. The game plays like a puzzle/platformer, with over 100 stages to play, as well as multiplayer modes available.

The Godisageek team were in attendance for a Developer session with Mr Naka at the Eurogamer Expo at the start of October, where the gaming genius talked us through this new title, as well as some of his past experiences in the videogames industry. Despite the need for an interpreter, he came across as quite a character, and he ended his talk with a much-disputed game of rock, paper, scissors – with autographed Ivy the Kiwi? picture books going to some lucky winners.

Check out the screenshot gallery for images from both versions, and the official trailer below – which shows how the gameplay works:

Ivy The Kiwi? is available to buy on Nintendo DS and Wii from Friday 29th October.
