Tekken Tag Tournament 2 announced!
At the Tokyo Game Show, Namco Bandai has revealed a sequel to PlayStation 2 launch title Tekken Tag Tournament. It boasts the imaginative title of: Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Tekken team leader Katsuhiro Harada announced the new title would be hitting arcades first, before coming home to consoles further down the line.
Characters featured so far in launch material are; Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishima, Asuka Kazama and Leo. Heihachi Mishima and Lili also both appear in the debut trailer. More destructable and “dynamic” fighting environments have been promised for this follow-up. With it being over ten years since the original Tag Tournament was released, the team are looking to incorporate many of the new features from later Tekken games and to move the series forward with innovative ideas. Let’s hope they include a four-player online tag mode – that would be hard to resist.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is due in Japanese arcades in mid 2011. Other releases will be announced in the future. Tekken X Streetfighter is also in the pipelines, with versions being developed by both Namco Bandai and Capcom.
